Interview Guide To Secure The Job You Want

By Michael Russell Attending a job interview requires careful preparation. The more you prepare the more confident and informed you will be, increasing your chances of creating a good impression. It is vital that your first impression leaves the interviewer feeling positive about you. In some cases it's the only opportunity you will have to impress the interviewer with your knowledge and skills, so make the most of it. There are no second chances. Some of the most important things to remember are:- Be sure you know the exact location of the interview and where to report when you arrive. Recheck the job requirements. Become familiar with the requirements of your potential employer Have all your paperwork to hand that maybe required including any references. Prepare your answers to anticipated questions. You know the job requirements so think of other questions which may be asked about you and such as your ideas, opinions and general interests. Do some research on the Company which is recruiting. This is important. It will enable you to ask pertinent questions, proving that you are sufficiently interested in the company by having spent time and effort in gleaning as much information as possible about it. Such research reflects a keen enthusiasm for the job on offer. Try not to display any signs of nervousness. Always be confident and positive and be clear and concise in your answers to questions. Self assurance rather than arrogance is often the key to a successful interview. On no account resort to "waffle". It will only make you look foolish. There are several things you can do to make the interview pleasant and successful, depending on your approach. When you attend an interview always take care with your dress. Dress smartly without being overdressed or too casual. We have mentioned before the need to appear confident and it is essential to appear confident when first meeting the person or persons who are carrying out the interview. As we have said you only get the one chance to make a good impression. It is particularly important to be punctual. Being late for an appointment is inexcusable as it indicates you are unreliable. It is far better to err on the safe side and be an hour early rather than five minutes late. If you are too early you can always brush up your interview preparation, have a coffee or go for a walk until the appointed time. When you enter the office where the interview is being held, show that you're at ease, smile at and offer a handshake to the interviewer. Wait until you are asked before you sit down and hold on to any papers or brief case you carrying until you're actually sitting down. Never put any of your belongings onto the desk or table at which the interviewers are seated. Assume a polite expression and don't slouch. Once you have met the interviewer(s) and the introductions are completed you can now relax. Take a look round, be observant, interested and alert. Now is the chance to show how proficient and experienced you are. This is the moment to exhibit your professionalism along with your knowledge and skills. If there's a question you don't understand ask for it to be repeated. If you still don't understand the question say so. If the interviewer outlines a problem within their company offer a solution, or at least make a suggestion on how the problem may be overcome. Always be positive, accurate and clear. Showing these attributes helps to convince the interviewer that you have self control, a requirement for any person who needs to exercise control in the workplace. To add to your credibility always ask questions about the company, its plans and past performance in addition to what developments are due to take place. Also ask what your prospects will be if you prove you have the ability to control, develop and improve on the current job under offer. At the end of the interview you will be told you'll be informed of the outcome. Thank the interviewer(s) for their attention and time and confirm you are still interested in the job (if you are) before you leave. The above points will help you to perform well at a job interview. Think about them and apply them and you'll have a considerable advantage over all the other applicants. Decorating the Nursery

By Daniel Rozengurtel Decorating the Nursery Decorating the nursery for an expected arrival can be thrilling, but also overwhelming. Making plans and choosing the perfect patterns can be even more exhausting than simply trying to survive the third trimester of pregnancy, but it doesnt have to be that way. There are simple points to consider when making a selection that can ease the process considerably. The minute you find out youre expecting a little bundle of joy, your thoughts almost immediately turn to the nursery. Next to adorable little clothes and baby booties, the nursery is by far the best part of preparing for baby. The nursery represents not only your style and attention to detail, but the amount of preparation you have completed for your new angel. When to Decorate
The first big question facing most newly expecting mothers is when to prepare the nursery. In some cultures and households there is a great deal of superstition surrounding preparing for a baby before he arrives safely home from the hospital. This, of course, is perfectly understandable, but those on the other end of the spectrum are anxious to begin preparing the nursery for a variety of reason. One reason to prepare the nursery early is to spread the cost over many months rather than spend the large sums of money required within a single week or two. Another reason for decorating the nursery early in the pregnancy is simply the mother-to-bes energy level. Early in pregnancy, moms have considerably greater flexibility and balance than in the final trimester when the large belly prevents some of even the most common movements. It is far easier to put up a wallpaper border when you can bend down to reach the glue or climb the necessary ladder. How to Decorate
Regardless of when you plan to begin decorating the nursery, there are still many questions to be answered about styles and patterns. Crib bedding sets and coordinated accessories come in a multitude of colors, prints, and patterns. Making the right selection can be difficult especially when one looks past the first year. Plush toys and teddy bears can add the jovial element to a room, while wooden toys and unique collectables offer a taste of the care and devotion which parents invested in the decorating process, Nurseries generally are beautiful as well as functional, and the characteristic pink or blue is often the underlying decorating theme. Using traditional decorating colors for crib bedding sets or wall paper works well if youve waited until the second trimester to begin decorating, but you simply may not know the gender of your baby if you decorate any earlier. Gender neutral patterns are an excellent way to plan for baby before he or she is willing to share his or her anatomy on ultrasound. Preparing the nursery in gender neutral shades of green, yellow, or even red also offers the opportunity to use the same room or crib bedding sets for another baby down the line- regardless of that babys gender. With a gender neutral background, specific gender is easy to identify through unique collectibles or toys. Websites such as www.SpiffyBaby.com offer many deluxe nursery bedding sets to help narrow down options the perfect choice. Also, dont be afraid to include items which demonstrate your own personality or which simply appeal to you. Unique nightlights, such as the Twilight Turtle Constellation Nightlight can be a unique, but highly functional part of any nursery. The Twilight Turtle actually displays constellations on the walls and ceiling of the nursery creating a soothing effect for baby. A final consideration for preparing the nursery is somewhat bittersweet. Your adorable infant will only stay a little for a very short time. After the first year, your baby will be well on her way to toddler, and the adorable ducks and lambs may no longer suit your little darling who is now fascinated with giant purple dinosaurs and ponies. Of course, toddlers dont have much say in decorating, but by planning ahead with a color or pattern in nursery bedding that is toddler friendly, as well as suitable for your newborn, you will be able to stretch your decorating time, dollar, and energy. Spiffybaby.com is dedicated to providing unique and upscale nursery items as well as many other fine baby items. What Grooms Need to Know

By Michael Wangner Getting married isn't all ball & chains. There's a lot of hard work to do before taking the dive. Planning a wedding is no small feat and while you may find out (if you haven't already) that although virtually none of the decisions are yours, you still have to do almost half the work. Consider it like owning a 49% interest in your fiance's company. All joking aside, while there are no hard and fast rules to who-does-what when it comes to weddings there are traditions that are somewhat entrenched. The bride is usually responsible for everything that involves the "look" or "theme" of the wedding (wedding reception hall, flowers, wedding invitations, wedding photographer, etc) and very little else. Believe me, those decisions will take her unfathomable amounts of time. I know you're thinking, "How long could it take to pick an invitation out of a book?" but trust me, just let it slide. Most often, the groom is responsible for: * Your side of the guest list * Marriage License * Blood Tests (if required) * Limos for the Bridal Party * DJ or Band * Rehearsal Dinner Toast * Best Man / Groomsmen Gifts * Wedding Night Hotel Room (if the Honeymoon doesn't start right away) * Honeymoon Schedule the marriage license and blood tests as soon as you can with your fiance (you both have to be there). Since this does require both of you, do this before anything else to get it out of the way before things start to get hectic. Discuss everything with your fiance and make sure you're both clear on who is responsible for what. You just might impress her by knowing what you've got to do before she does and being proactive. Then again, she might expect this is all common knowledge and act like you're mentally deficient. Women. Once everything is settled it's time to get to work. Get everything on your list checked off well in advance of the wedding date. You don't want anything hanging over you in the final run up to the wedding and considering how much stress everyone else will be under your best move is to stand ready to put out political fires from inter and intra-family conflicts as they arise. May you have the best of luck, because you are most certainly going to need every bit of it! Don't Just Set Your Goals; Achieve Them!

By Tom Palange With 2006 nearly upon us, many people use this time to look optimistically towards the year ahead by setting financial goals and planning for the future. How often however, do we find ourselves looking back at the winter months and feeling truly satisfied that we accomplished the goals we set for ourselves? For many of us, achieving our goals is more of a lofty dream than a reality; but it is never too late to change that trend. No matter how overwhelmed you may feel, your financial goals can be achieved; and by following three simple steps you might even find yourself with a few extra bucks in your pocket. Step 1: Build a Household Budget
Before you establish a general goal for your familys finances, set up a budget to document exactly how much you can afford to spend on each household need. Step 2: Examine Your Expenses
Once your budget is built it can tell you just how much or how little income is left over after all your costs are accounted for. Pay close attention to each household need or category, and decide with your family whether or not budget cuts can be made. For instance, if you notice that your heating bill has risen this winter because of the increase in the price of oil, try and find a spot that is less necessary, perhaps in clothing expenses or cable television. Step 3: Use a Spending Plan
Now that youve documented your required expenses, it is time to adhere to your budget. By implementing a weekly or monthly spending plan you can be sure to stay on top of your budget by allotting your family specific amounts of money that can be spent. Good Weight Loss Product?

By Chris Looi In order to get the best results from a weight loss product dieting plays an important role and this is especially important when you are using Phentermine in order to lose weight. So to achieve the expected results from Phentermine you need to stick to the diet plan which has been prescribed by your doctor. You will also need to take the recommended doses of this product along with regular exercise and the perfect diet plan in order to achieve the desired results in the shortest period of time possible. When you are first starting a weight loss program that includes a weight loss product you will need to change your attitude towards yourself and how your perceive yourself. Unfortunately if you do not do this you will find it even more difficult to lose the weight. However you should start any exercise schedule that you will be doing when using Phentermine gradually and then slowly increase the period of exercise that you do. So along with a good diet you can start just by walking for 1/2 an hour each day and this will allow your body to start tuning in to the Phentermine pills that you are taking. The Phentermine pills affect the status of the neurotransmitters in the brain and help to control a person's appetite. It also helps to stimulate the hypothalamus glands which control the nervous system, appetite and body temperature. The result from using Phentermine is that you suppress your appetite and this reduces the weight of a person. You will find that there are 2 brands of Phentermine available one is Adipex and the other is Ionamin. As we have previously mentioned Phentermine pills affects signals in the brain but in order to cope with this you will need to change your behavior with regard to your diet and exercise regime. You will in fact need to adapt to the diet and exercises other the weight loss product Phentermine will not work and you will not begin to lose that weight. However if you experience any difficulties whilst taking Phentermine you should see your doctor immediately and do not continue with the pills unless your doctor says it is safe to do so. http://www.womenlifestyle.org provides another alternative to the way for weight loss and dieting in leading to your healthy lifestyle. http://womenshealthcare.womenlifestyle.org/ Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Chris_Looi http://EzineArticles.com/?Good-Weight-Loss-Product?&id=556000 buy phentermine diet pill

Why Needlework is Good For Your Health

By Yvette Stanton People who enjoy stitching have for a long time known the
benefits needlework brings. There are many reasons why
people choose use their leisure time to stitch, but there are
also many reasons why this is good for them! Engaging in a craft such as needlework causes the
embroiderer to slow down, and concentrate on the task at
hand. With such busy lives, many of us find that such
opportunities are precious. They help us to relax, give our
hands the chance to work, while our minds can be at rest.
Sure, needlework requires concentration, but some
needlework falls into a rhythm, which allows our brains to
disengage while our hands' muscle memory does the work. In his book "In Praise of Slow", Carl Honore explains why
slowing down is important, and how in our culture of speed
we need to take opportunities to slow down. Needlework is
a great way to do this. It takes time. It is not something that
can be mastered overnight, nor are most projects
something that can be done overnight. Needlework
develops fine motor skill, but also more intangible skills
such as delayed gratification and persistence. Needlework allows for expression of creativity. We can use
our embroidery to express ourselves. I do embroidery
because I must be creating something. For me, it is
something I am driven to do. If I do not create, I feel that
something is missing. For me, and many others, the action
of creating something contributes to our mental well being
and feelings of fulfilment. I feel that there is something spiritual about creating. Made
in the image of God, we share some of His likenesses. God
created everything. When I create, for me it is an act of
worship. Its me saying "God, you are the ultimate creator.
Here is my feeble attempt as an offering to you." I often find that many of the students in my needlework
classes have health problems. Needlework classes are an
opportunity for students to completely lose themselves in a
task, forgetting their problems, while enjoying the wonderful
social interactions that embroidery classes typically provide.
One of my students once commented that getting together
with a group of women to sew is better than paying $50 to a
therapist any day! And at the end they have something that
they have made to show off or even give to their family and
friends. The benefits of building social connections and self
esteem like this are enormous. It seems that many people agree. Attendance at the craft
shows around the nation is up, with many spending up big
on a range of crafts in which to immerse themselves. New
craft magazines are appearing on the newsagency shelves
all the time. The message that craft is good for you is
getting through. It is clear that needlework fills a void in peoples lives: for
social interaction, for expression of creativity, and for giving
people something meaningful and enjoyable to do. We can now enjoy the knowledge that research backs up
these experiences: participation in the textile arts brings
many benefits, particularly for health and social wellbeing.
Frances Reynolds, Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the
Department of Health and Social Care, Brunel University,
UK has published a paper entitled Textile art promoting
well-being in long-term illness: some general and specific
influences. It fills occupational voids following early retirement and
enables social contacts. Textile artwork also stimulates
learning and personal development. It draws upon rich
social traditions, facilitating social contact. Many forms of
textile art making are highly time-consuming, fostering
a future orientation, and the creative process is often
socially visible within the home, with positive consequences
for self-image. says Dr Reynolds. So as you enjoy your embroidery, rest easy in the
knowledge that what you are doing is good for your health.
And you could even use it as an excuse to buy more craft
supplies and add to your stash... "But its good for my
health!" Yvette Stanton is an embroidery teacher and the author of
the books "Mountmellick Embroidery: Inspired by Nature"
(2004) and "Elegant Hardanger Embroidery" (2002, 2005).

Are You Too Attached?

By Kate Thompson So you love your partner to an alarmingly amorous degree and wonder if your smothering may be putting a damper on the whole healthy relationship quotient. You should start by asking yourself whether you consider your behavior to be beneficial to your partnership. Be brave: Ask your partner if they need a little space and don't take offense if they do. Being in a relationship doesn't mean that you have to do everything together, make sure to have your own friends and hobbies outside of the relationship. Always make time for yourself to avoid losing your identity in a relationship. Set aside one day of the month to actively spend time solely with yourself, either spend that day at a spa or take in a dinner and movie. You should also spend one evening a week of quality time with your family or friends. Try not to blur the lines between attachment and possessiveness. It's completely unhealthy to believe that you own someone and can control what they do or who they spend time with. If you find yourself counting the seconds until your love comes home or check in on him/her a gazillion times a day through e-mail or by phone, then yeah, you might be too attached. If you can't bear to be without your partner then you may want to analyze your feelings about trust and abandonment. Discuss those feelings candidly with your partner so they can understand where you're coming from and give you the reassurance you need. Fresh, fun and flirty advice on dating and relating. Maid of Honor Duties

By Samantha Taylor Being chosen as a maid of honor is a great privilege, but it also requires a large number of responsibilities in the wedding planning process. The maid of honor will likely be spending a great deal of time with the best man, since their duties are often the same and require them to work hand-in-hand in order for the wedding to be a success. Once you have dealt with the excitement of being part of the wedding party and of wearing a great dress, it's time to start planning immediately. Here is a list of common duties the maid of honor must fulfill:
It is the maid of honor's responsibility to shop with the bride and attend all dress fittings. The maid of honor may want to help the bridesmaids shop for their dresses as well. The maid of honor will be required to help with wedding invitations, wedding favors, flower arrangements, centerpieces or anything else at the bride's request. A large part of the maid of honor's duties requires her to throw the bridal shower and bachelorette parties. The maid of honor will be responsible for planning and hosting all of these parties. If the couple decides they want a stag and doe (as opposed to bachelor and bachelorette parties) the maid of honor and best man will work together to plan and host the event. It's the maid of honor's duty to record the names of the guests at the bridal party as well as their gifts. It is also her job to send out thank you cards to all guests. During the wedding ceremony, it's the maid of honor's responsibility to hold onto the groom's ring (the best man is required to hold onto the bride's ring). It's the maid of honor's responsibility (as well as the best man's) to sign the wedding license as a witness. Finally, it is tradition for the maid of honor and best man to dance together at the reception.
If you are a first-time maid of honor and need help planning there are many people who would be eager to help out starting with the bride's mom or the bridesmaids. There are also a number of Internet resources to assist you with bridal planning and ideas. The maid of honor has many responsibilities, but it's important to remember that the bride would not have chosen you if she didn't think you were capable of fulfilling these obligations. Samantha Taylor spent several years working in the weddings industry as a wedding planner. When she isn't being a mom of two wonderful children, she works as a freelance writer for http://www.yourwedding101.com - a site that offers information about everything wedding related - from hosting a wedding reception to wedding speeches and more. Your 25th Birthday: An Important Halfway Point

By Gail Leino By the 25th birthday most people expect to have accomplished something with their lives. Theres only five more years until that big three-O and the average person usually hopes that they are well on their way by their 25th year. Theyll have settled into a place of their own, a job and may even be starting a family all ready. Some new twenty-five year olds might be thinking that they want their party to be a little more grown-up, a little more sensible around this time. Of course thats fairly normal. After all the 25th birthday is an important milestone signifying stability and foundation. Even the music channel, MTV recently celebrated its 25th year of existence in 2006. The average birthday is also considered an anniversary, this one being of the 25th year of the day you were born and the 25th anniversary is also known as the silver anniversary. Lots of silver decorations can add both elegance and an interesting theme to the birthday party. Plastic silver colored fedoras can be great party favors to give out to guests or as prizes. Other nice party favors are silver glasses and even silver beads. Silver or platinum colored cups, plates and napkins can usually be found with intricate designs in ink or embossed on them for the guests to eat off of. Traditional party birthday cakes used to have small prizes mixed into the batter for people to find. Since this is the 25th birthday party you could mix in some quarters with the batter. Do warn your guests before they start eating though. Better yet use quarters and money in general in the theme of the party. Scatter plastic play money around the buffet table and hang it from the ceiling. Party loot bags can include quarters for the guests to use. Mrs. Party... Who Should Write Your Resume?

By Joan Ridley This is a question we get a lot. It seems rather easy to do it yourself if you have access to a word processing program and printer and feel comfortable writing your job history. I always wrote my own resumes over the years, for 10 successful job changes up the career ladder, as well as in 4 different states. Inherently I knew a few things about resumes number one being to write each resume to fit the specific job and employer. I rarely wrote what I call a generic resume. One time in my career I sent 6 resumes out at one time to 6 different employers, but all were for the same job title. I was successful in landing my desired job in a short period of time. I never thought resume writing would be difficult for folks, but after 23 years as a hiring manager and supervisor of staff looking to move ahead, I was amazed by peoples indifference, lack of knowledge and level of discomfort in writing their resume. Most did not have a resume, and those that did, were poorly done. Some applicants actually panicked at the thought of having to bring or send a resume. As a hiring manager, I was more apt to select a candidate who presented herself well on paper, as well as in the interview. A well written resume speaks to the applicants interest in the position and subliminally implies how well the applicant will do in the job. I saw very few of what I would call good resumes, and only a handful of excellent resumes. If you are seeking a job where there is a lot of competition, it is critical to have a resume that stands out. If you want your resume to stay in the pile at the top, and not hit the trash can, your resume must catch the managers eye. Most people include too much information in their resume you should never lie on your resume, but there is no law that says you must include everything (thats what employment applications are for). I used to hate job objectives they were either too broad and not job specific, or not well written. They told me the applicant hadnt given a thought about the job they were seeking. Job objectives must be job specific, or dont include one. If it can be job specific and employer specific, thats best. Most professional resume writers have taken courses, read books and articles and spent a great deal of time learning and honing their craft. They join organizations to obtain continued education on the topic of resume writing. Choosing a professional resume writer leverages your chances of getting that interview. Presentation, word choice, what information to include or exclude for the specific job/specific employer are just a few of the tricks of the trade of the professional resume writer. Seeking an expert results in an expert resume. If you choose to write your own resume, prepare the information you include carefully. Learn all you can about your prospective employer. Today, almost every company has a website, search it carefully for hints on the culture and mission of the organization, and use that information as you carefully write your skills and accomplishments. If your prospective employer is a for profit company, remember to include all activities in your previous employments that increased profits. Presentation of the information is key. Make sure there are no misspelled words or poor grammar. Have someone who is good at spelling and grammar proofread your resume. Use quality paper, and make sure it is clean and un-creased. No gimmicks or cutesy type. If you choose a professional resume writer, have all of your job and education history available. Know the job and employer, if possible. It is much easier and more successful to write a targeted resume. Think about your skills and qualifications. Ask co-workers and friends about your talents and accomplishments. Dont be shy, be prepared to toot your own horn! Telling the professional resume writer more than they need is better than not sharing enough information. After all, the resume writers goal is for you to get the interview (and therefore, the job)through this resume. Joan Ridley

3 Tips For Designing Your Own Grandfather Clock Case

By Barry Share Although there are advanced drawing programs you can use on
computers today, we still use the old method we were taught in
college i.e. using a drawing board, clips, and T-square. You may
laugh but it the cheapest and fastest way, and works very well
for us, working on the principle of keep it simple. 1. Construction Take some time out to look at styles and construction of cases
for the period that matches your movement and dial. If you are
not lucky enough to be able to get access to any and to have
hands on and get a close look, you will have to scan as many
books as possible. It goes with out saying a good source of
pictures can be found at your local library. 2. Keep Your Eyes Open Museums and stately homes give a great opportunity to get close
up and have a good scan. A friend of mine once asked a stately
home permission to photograph and take the dimensions from a
table they had so he could make a copy, and believe it or not
they said yes. Ive never tried it but it might work for a clock
case. 3. Auction Houses Lets not forget the old auction houses these can be a great
source for research. Get the catalogue for any photographs, and
then get yourself down to the auction on viewing day and you can
then get a close look at the style with its veneering, stringing
and all its decorative features, and also look inside to see how
the case was constructed. Once you have drawn up the case you are going to make, with as
much detail as you can put on it, you can then compile your
cutting list. Listing all the parts you will have to make to finished size,
you can then calculate the exact amount of timber you will need
to buy from the timber merchant and order the veneers and
stringing or inlay if necessary. Its also a good time to source
and purchase the fittings you will use on the case i.e. hinges,
finials, patera and column caps. A great book that covers clock case drawing and construction
that I can recommend is "Making and Repairing Wooden clock
cases"
